So, how does this work?

As the term implies, working with a Fee-Only financial planner means the advice you receive is not compromised by conflicts of interest.  There are no incentives for me to recommend certain financial products to you (I don’t accept commissions, incentive trips or receive compensation from sources other than my clients). 

This means that you pay either a fixed annual retainer for financial planning services, or a percentage fee for planning and investment advisory services.  The percentage is based on the assets I manage for you.  Details of these approaches are disclosed in my Firm Brochure (Form ADV Part 2A)

Financial planning engagements are priced based on their complexity, and start at $555 quarterly for comprehensive planning services.  If, like most of my clients, you seek planning and investment advisory services, the percentage fee starts at 1% of assets managed up to $500,000, drops to 0.80% for the next $499,999, then to 0.50% for $1 million to $5 million, and 0.30% on assets over that level.  This is an all-inclusive fee for comprehensive financial planning and management of your investments.

Attention
In the first year, we will meet very frequently as we develop a baseline plan, Investment Policy Statement and implement the various aspects of your plan.  After the first year, I recommend we meet on a quarterly basis to formally review your current situation to your plan, and take proactive action on any new events that have unfolded.  Throughout the years, you will receive communications from me on topics that may be of interest to you, and I welcome your calls to help with any matters that arise.  I recommend we collaborate with other members of your financial team, such as your CPA, estate attorney and insurance agent.  Information on the process is shown here.
